Industry outlook for the oil and gas industry 2018

3: Capital allocation in the energy transition

Tough questions for oil and gas leaders

Trends suggest we have entered the long-term energy transition toward a diverse mix of ever-lower-carbon solutions. This creates a new set of hard choices for leaders in an industry that is reassessing short and long-term strategies. The transition is seen by many as a gradual process, but already 44% of respondents to our survey say their organization is actively preparing for a transition to a less carbon-intensive energy mix, against just 27% who say they are not preparing.
Our report, Confidence and Control, examines the energy transition, including industry expectations and investments in natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and renewable energy.
